Indiana Severe Weather Preparedness Week

on Monday, 19 March 2012.

As part of Indiana’s Severe Weather Preparedness Week, the National Weather Service and other agencies will conduct a statewide tornado drill this Wednesday March 21, 2012.

Statewide communications systems will be tested twice — once between 10 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., and again between 7:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. At those times, many emergency-service agencies across Indiana plan to sound alarms. Most TV and radio stations will broadcast test messages.

The annual exercise helps schools, businesses, law enforcement agencies, emergency managers and the public to prepare for the severe weather season in Indiana.

Should actual severe weather occur, the tests will be postponed until Thursday, according to the web site of the National Weather Service in Indiana.
